~ What little kids don't have

~ Monday night's with Oprah and Eckhart

~ What people are 12 times more likely to do...

~ 2 Quotes

What little kids don't have is...

Image ...just this: as I watch my little 18 month old grand daughter, Ava, I am clearly seeing she does not have an ego. I think that is why I love to be with her. The more time we spend together I notice her openness and simplicity. When she is hungry she lets me know. When she doesn't want something ;she let's me know that too.
And all without worry on her part how I will react or respond. It is "what it is" to her.

This has me asking myself, so why do I have an ego? It gets in my way so much at times. The statement "it's all in your head" is so true.
There are times when I notice that when I am really present in the moment, as the best times, where ego does not rule.

Ava, is always 'in the moment'. Little ones have no memory it seems for being stuck in the past. Nor do they put much thought about the future. To them, it's all about the Now.

The other day blowing bubbles was the best thing to Ava. We had such a good time; I made bubbles and she ran around flapping her arms and trying to stamp out the bubbles on the floor. When was the last time you did something as silly as that?

A good place to be really. So, I am all for "being as little children".
Perhaps it's not a bad thing to be "out of mind "now is it?

Monday Night's with Oprah & Eckhart

So last month I alerted readers to a new form of web class offered by Oprah, featuring Eckhart Tolle, the author of A New Earth;Awakening to Your Life's Purpose. For any reason you may have missed any classes, or have not started- the good news is you can go to www.oprah.com and become a student today no cost to do so and review all archived classes.
Even download them on your IPod !

From the first class, where I was moved by the is-ness of Eckhart's description of a flower, to the deepening topic of our egos as the weeks progress. Perhaps that is why I have commented on Ava's time with me, and how much I see she is without an ego. We as adults all have egos, yet given the fact where they reside, our head, generally they get us into hot water more times than it's worth. We fall into the trap of believing who we 'think' we are. As Eckhart is saying, we are much much more than that. Our true selves is the silence within us. We must turn the volume down to access it.

It is said that children do not develop any ego until they are two and a half or so. After the age of about 3 they begin to really believe they are part of what they think they 'own', and without it they are less-than. By that, I mean it is at the point when they associate toys or things as 'theirs'. That is mostly due to people around them telling them about 'their toy, or their puppy, or their food'. So when any of these things are taken away from them, it is seen and felt as a tremendous 'loss' of themselves. Part of them has gone missing. That, says Eckhart, is the ego beginning to take shape.

Putting aside the ego and learning to be the 'observer' of what you see in front of you allows you to not get caught up in the chaos and heading off a bad reaction. Being the 'observer' allows for a short time to reflect and respond after whatever it is that we witness.

Did you know that we as humans, are hard wired with a nanosecond of time and space, before we can even react to anything? That is a gift, when you think of it, from God. There, in that space, you can simply be a neutral observer, without ego in the way.

What I am working on this month is being very mindful of my language around Ava regarding 'things'. I am careful to reference toys, as 'the' toy , or the high chair, or the coat, not her ---- . Wow, I have caught myself fall into the trap so many times, and I am so glad I have the awareness to be able to change my language.

The other point I want to share is how much I admire Oprah for being so candid, and open about her own short comings. She is allowing herself to be vulnerable and is ok with that. She is a great role model.

I value this course for the awareness it has brought out in me. Lose ego- and discover that all is running along in perfect timing behind the scenes anyway. It calls me to trust that.

So, I am curious, if you are part of the Monday night classes-
~what are you getting from it?
~What has been a big 'aha moment' for you?
~ if you could call, or skype during the class with a question for them, what would your question it be?

What are people 12 times most likely to do?
People today are 12 times more likely to open what looks like a greeting card in their mail than any other piece of mail!

Let's face it, we all know what a bill looks like, and junk mail- well that's obvious.

There is a movement to return to the 'snail mail' method of keeping in touch- yes- sending real greeting cards in the mail.

Do you own your own business?
Are you part of an organization?

If you recognize that you need a simple fast way to send cards to keep in touch with clients, volunteers or staff, I have an offer for you.

It's simple- I want to share with you the system called SendOutCards. I love it. It's fast, fun and I can create a card in under a minute and it's in the mail same day for less than about $1.45 - yes - card AND postage! I can even digitally sign them, too. It's all done online.

click here to view my SendOutCard website to request a free greeting card on me! - fill out the form online and I'll get back to you ASAP!

Here's what Mike is saying about incorporating the cards for his Business:
" I was seeing the need to keep in touch with my insurance clients other than e-mail, but did not have time to sit and hand write cards anymore. Funny thing is , I used to when I first started out 16 years ago, but certainly not now. Thanks Cathy for showing me SendOutCards. I love to use it, and I never forget to send my clients a birthday card- they love it too."
