Many of you wanted to reveiw your 2007

Thank you to all of you, and there were lots, who requested the worksheet on Debriefing Your 2007- it proved to be a useful tool. Good to check over your shoulder for where you have been traveling, so you can make sure you are pointed in the right direction for where you want to go next.
Here's what one reader had to offer as feedback on her experience...

Thank you for the Debriefing Worksheet. It and the article in your newsletter were most helpful in focusing on things that went right in a difficult year. It has helped me to find a direction for this year and writing things down definitely helped clarify direction and the steps to be taken.

I enjoy your newsletter and look forward to the next one.

Brilliant and thanks kindly for sharing your thoughts, S.

Hearts & Flowers and... Our Guest Writer

ImageIsn't the month of February the only month we don't' have a government holiday? I think so. Is that the reason why we created Valentines Day I wonder? No, there's a lot of history behind Valentines Day, but it's buried in the chocolate, flowers, and heats for the most part.
Today most of us remember our sweethearts on the 14th, as a sign of our love and affection. It calls us to make a point of it, whereas the rest of the year we could be just too caught up in Life to go out of our way to say or do something to honor the one we love.

I asked Bobby O'Neal, of Syncrohearts, to be my guest writer for this month. For those of you who don't' know Bobby, he's the guy who has created a board game in the name of Love, called Syncrohearts. Haven't thought of something to give your beloved this year??- there's still time. Below, you can go to Bobby's site and check out stores in your area that carry his unique board game.

and now, here's our guest writer...

How important is Valentine’s Day?
It is a good thing that we have this “love reminder” once a year! Valentine’s Day is an opportunity for all of us to really appreciate the ones we love. With the scent of cut flowers, sparkling heart decorations and mouth-watering chocolates, it is hard not to notice this special day. How important is this love day? Valentine’s Day is definitely good for business and I am sure the retail stores need the sales boost, especially after the January lull of spent Christmas shoppers. However, Valentine’s Day fulfills a much bigger role in our society. It simply allows us to focus our attention on love.

Lets face it; we are a busy bunch. We are over scheduled, over committed and too stressed out. Unfortunately, when we get busy, we tend to have less time for our loved ones. How much time are you currently spending with your loved ones, compared to five or ten years ago? Our priorities can get out of balance when we find ourselves “working to live”. Working to pay all of our bills and running around to meet all of our obligations can start to take a toll on our relationships.

Thank goodness for February 14, because this day helps to remind us of our real priorities. Work can wait and appointments can be postponed, because love needs our attention now. What we focus on becomes our reality. Love needs to be our focus because love is the key to more happiness, better health, more prosperity, and more harmony. Perhaps we should celebrate Valentine’s Day more often. We need and deserve those expressions and messages of love every day. Perhaps, Valentine’s Day should be designated as a statutory holiday.

This special day is not just for intimate lovers. Although the florists and love shops depend on us to spoil our intimate partner, we also need to express our love to everyone else around us. Kind of like an “orgy” in a heart-centered, where we all share hugs and kisses, smiles, kind words, and loving thoughts. Cupid shoots love arrows through all of us and it is our responsibility to spread this love around. The increasing incidents of violence and relationship breakups are a sure sign that the world needs more love.

We all need to speak the language of love. Some say that the “L” word gets used too loosely and that our expressions of “love” should only be directed to those closest to us. Ironically, compared to the “love” word, the other four-letter word is used far too often in our society. Hang out near a skytrain station at night and you will probably be bombarded with all of the derivatives of the “f” word. It is human nature to get angry and most of us have probably cursed at the person who cut us off in traffic. However, the next time you feel the need to tell someone to “f”- off, try smiling and tell them to “love on” instead. I heard this expression just the other day, when I accidentally turned the dishwasher on while my wife was in the shower. I knew what she meant, but for some reason I still felt the love! Therefore, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we should express our love to everyone and if you do not feel this is appropriate, then “love on”.

You Just Have to T R U S T me on That

Every day we have opportunities presented to us to learn. Here's my story on the color white and trust. Or "How to trust there is a way".

Late in January I decided to put a project that I had begun many months ago to bed. You see, I had repainted my bedroom in June, and had not gotten to repainting the master bathroom to complete the whole project. Before I knew it, 6+ months had flown by, and my bedroom was a delightful bright and Fresh Azure Blue, with a master bath room still sitting there in Toasted Wheat. It was clearly not working .
That’s it- I declared to myself - the job needed to be completed. The time was now. However, I wasn’t going to be the painter this time. I called on my painter friend Bruce, and yes, he and Gary, his partner, were up for the job.

Now as to color for the bathroom project, I had decided to go a ¼ tone lighter than the bedroom. In my mind I could see an almost white bathroom, with just a hint of the blue from the bedroom.
I headed down to the paint store to have this color creation mixed up and ready for Bruce. They applied two coats, but we all agreed a third coat would finish the job. I didn’t want to say anything to the guys, but this whole room was looking rather blue for me 2 coats into it… after all, remember, I had an almost white room in my minds eye.
Bruce estimated with what we had in the remainder of the one gallon pail, all I’d have to do is go back to the store and have one quart mixed up. Great- sounded pretty easy.

So that’s the backgrounder to this story. Now here’s the important part of the story I want to share.

Going way back to beginning of this project, you know, the part where I initially went to have the first gallon mixed, and how that tiny sample of the lovely Fresh Azure Blue scaled down to ¼ strength looked good. At least in the store it seemed white enough. Once on the walls, though, it was quite a bit darker than I had really wanted.

Hmmmm I thought. Cathy, just go with the flow. It’s only paint, be happy. Yet I kept returning to a mental picture of a much lighter, almost whiter color in my mind. How can I get there now, I wondered ? There has to be a way.

So now, here I am once again in the paint store, with ‘my orders’ to purchase one more quart of paint.
“Oh sorry “ they tell me behind the desk- “Um sorry, but we can’t mix that small of a quantity of paint in a ¼ strength. It doesn’t work.”
Yikes- I thought now what? A job over three quarters done, and we can’t match the color?
Ok, I AM getting better and better at not reacting -- I decided to stay calm. There had to be a simple solution.

Janet, at the store is brilliant and came up with a wonderful idea.
“Go home” she says “and get the remainder of the gallon. We will ADD a quart’s worth more of white. That way you’ll get the much lighter tone you were looking for anyway!”
Huh ! That was it. I had kept a clear mental image of the color I really wanted, and low & behold I got it. I trusted there had to be a simple solution- and there was! What could have been simpler??

We have many opportunities to practice Trusting the Universe. Here was a really awesome opportunity for me. Bruce and Gary completed the job, it looks amazing and I am happier than ever. This project was part Law of Attraction and part Trust the Universe- it's here to help.
Thank you Universe!

Check in With Lesley

Lesley has been with us since September last year, giving her reports on her Dream to lose weight. it's got to be a constant mental picture for her, seeing herself 'as if' she's already there. At her perfect weight. Focusing on what we have not achieved yet just holds int he stuck position. So let's hear what's Lesley has to say for February... there are some wise words for anyone who experiences a down day...

Welcome to the month of February... I am always very lucky... as I always win something everywhere I go...Thinking positive allows the negative to escape.

My true feelings right now is I can do it!!! I am not a quitter even although yes we get down days.
Not to give up, think of all the weight I have already lost .
I would not be writing this is if Cathy did not allow me to do so.
So, what if I did not lose my goal weight for this month? Gosh! I don't want to let down my friends most of all I cannot let down myself. I just get right back on that road to success and keep my head up high and think thin...

Thinking and dreaming of living that good life and actually living that good life is two different things. I am so fortunate to say that I have the latter. Good things come to me easy because I want them. February is a thinking month.
I am thinking, I will now act upon it today... Will you join me?..
See you in March.

Cheers,
Lesley

Thanks Lesley for being you- it's refreshing :)
